Insurance Industry Gains 2,500 Jobs
Reversing months of declines, the government reports a pickup in insurance employment.
The insurance industry gained 2,500 jobs in November over October, shaking off months of jobs declines, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. For the year, the industry has posted a net gain of jobs in just two out of 11 months.
Data by industry segment broken out by various insurance carrier and noncarrier categories are available only on an unadjusted basis for the prior month. In that group, employment in insurance agencies and brokerages during October ticked down just 0.03 percent, with 874,800 jobs.
